This time, I paid a visit to the Erawan Museum. Nothing much about this place is known to me, other than it’s a museum with a giant 3 headed elephant display built on top of the building. It’s pretty gigantic, standing about 5-6 storey tall, and the museum span into the elephant belly.
The journey took about 1 hour via public bus no. 102. I took the bus from Khlong Toei and I inform the conductor that I’m going to Erawan Museum. 1 hour into the journey, we stopped by the main road, and here we are. The giant elephant display can be view from out of the compound. We paid 1500 THB as the entrance fees, and off we go. Lower museum display a lot of artifact, and those that caught my eyes were jade and Chinese porcelain. Photography is prohibited in this area though.

Once I’m out into the main area, photography is allowed. The very first thing that caught my eyes, or anyone else in the building, are it’s ceiling. It looks like a huge painting, beautifully back lighted. Generally, the room are quite dim, illuminated only by lights through the window and door. But nothing beat this giant display of art. I think this is the most photograph item of my trip.

Done Xao is located within the Golden Triangle, across the Mekong river from Thailand shore. During my trip to Chiang Rai, I took a boat ride across to pay visit to the other side of the land.
Although being in such a close proximity to Chiang Rai, Done Xao is in a much poorer state. This place, which look like a marketplace, target tourist are their main source of income. Goods can be bought cheaply here, for example, 1 cartoon of cigarette are sold for just 100 THB. They also sell beer, clothes and “snake whiskey”.

Here above is a bottle of snake whiskey, made from the unfortunate baby cobra. I wonder where they get so many cobra. I tried one, scorpion whiskey. I think it’s the same whiskey, just different animal in the bottle. 1 shot is all it takes. It burns and you can feel it going down your throat. They offer more to me, but I give it a pass. I don’t want to get drunk in such a hot day.

The White Temple, or Chapel of Wat Rong Khun is located just South of Chiang Rai. I get a chance to visit this place during my trip to Chiang Mai.
If you are familiar with Thailand, you will notice that they have many temple. It’s not surprising, as the majority of Thai are Buddhist. And when you think of Thai’s Temple, color of gold would come to mind. However, this temple, built by Thailand’s premier artist Chaloemchai Khositphiphat, is painted in all white. Seen from afar, it glitters in the sun. This is due to the mirror planted into the sculpture itself. It’s an amazing sight.

I’m lucky. The sky is all blue on that day.
Unlike other temple where they depict the various God in Buddhism, this temple is surrounded by mystic animal. Sculpture are based on imaginary animal and you have to look up close to see what it is.
A friend of mine having a great moment, and still going.
Congratulation bro and missus, … and (please) let me share it here !
